銀河旅行指南（The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy）這部電影裡，有一段關於人們詢問世上獨一無二超強運算能力超級電腦的對話。人問道：「偉大的電腦，請妳告訴我關於生命、宇宙與一切的終極答案？」過了幾千光年的運算之後，當人們重新回到電腦面前，竟得到「42」這個莫名其妙答案的同時，這個奇怪的數字，不僅僅加深了劇情的歷史神秘性之外，還影響了相當多的人。
